Stevie Taggert Testimonials

By Laszlo Kreizler

Dr. Kreizler is Stevie’s guardian and the pair share a close bond, similiar to a father/son relationship. The following quotes or statements were made by Dr. Kreizler in reference to Stevie’s character.

The Angel of Darkness, 80-1:

The Doctor pulled out his watch and began to fiddle with it in a way that was strange for him: like he wasn’t sure just how to say what was on his mind. “I – do not expect to ever have children, Stevie. Of my own, I mean. But if I were to have a son – I could only wish that he would have your courage. In all ways.”

By John Moore

John originally knew Stevie simply as Dr. Kreizler’s ward. During the events of The Alienist, however, John makes the discovery that Stevie shares his passion for gambling and it is through this activity that the pair form a life-long friendship. The following quotes or statements were made by John in reference to Stevie’s character.

The Alienist, 188:

Stevie had been continuing to run “errands” for me on a regular basis, and the process of keeping this activity hidden from Kreizler had forged something of a bond between us, one that permitted straightforward communication.

By Sara Howard

Although Sara only met Stevie during The Alienist, the pair bonded quickly. Reflected in this, Sara constantly lets Stevie get away with things that she would never allow of an adult. The following quotes or statements were made by Sara in reference to Stevie’s character.

The Angel of Darkness, 118:

“Stevie wouldn’t put up with a fool, Cecilia,” Miss Howard said, touching my arm reassuringly. “You can depend on that — he’s one of the good ones.”
