About The Site
17thstreet.net was started in December 2005 and is run by two friends, Kim and Cait. It is a website dedicated to the books The Alienist and The Angel of Darkness written by Caleb Carr. It is non-profit and aims to bring accurate information about the books to fans of the series.
About The Webmistresses
Kim is the owner of 17thstreet.net. She is from Australia and is completing a research PhD in psychology, investigating how memories are formed and consolidated. In her spare time, she loves studying history and has a particular interest in the 19th and early 20th centuries.
Cait helps out at 17thstreet.net by writing the character biographies that appear on the site. She is a University student from Canada studying english and creative writing.
Why 17th Street?
One of the major settings for the books is Dr Kreizler's residence at 283 East Seventeenth street, New York City. Because of it's importance within the books - and also because it's got a nice sound to it - we decided that it would be a good domain name for a website dedicated to the series.
