Major Characters
- Howard, Sara
Miss Sara Howard is a young woman on a mission to become the first female police officer in New York. She plays a critical role in the investigative team as she is able to look at the crimes from a female perspective.
- Isaacson, Lucius
Lucius Isaacson is a Detective Sergeant for the New York police force and is part of the investigative team. Along with his brother, he is able to bring a comprehensive knowledge of the latest forensic crime solving techniques (such as fingerprinting) to the efforts of the team.
- Isaacson, Marcus
Marcus Isaacson is another Detective Sergeant for the New York police force and like his brother, is also part of the investigative team. His is also able to bring a comprehensive knowledge of the latest forensic crime solving techniques (such as fingerprinting) to the efforts of the team.
- Kriezler, Laszlo
Dr Laszlo Kreizler is the enigmatic child and forensic psychologist who leads the team of five investigators in solving crimes around New York in the 1890s.
- Montrose, Cyrus
Cyrus is Dr Kreizler's valet, driver, and alter ego. He, like Stevie, is not a formal member of the team but in his role as Dr Kreizler's valet he does help the team quite a lot.
- Moore, John
Mr John Moore is another member of the investigative team. He is a criminal journalist and through his knowledge of the gangs and criminal activity in New York can provide crucial information about possible suspects.
- Taggert, Stevie
Stevie is a teenager under the guardianship of Dr Kreizler. Although he's not formally a member of the team, he does contribute quite considerably to the efforts of the adults in the investigation.
